I would like to wish you all a very happy new year and I hope you all had a restful holiday with your families.
The new term is now in full swing and there are lots of exciting things to look forward to including:
- Year 2 school trip to Manchester Museum
- Beth Tweddle gymnastics in Key Stage 1
- Year 6 residential trip to Robinwood
- Friends of Butterstile Spring discos
- Class Assemblies
- Year 3/4 concert
Here at Butterstile, we take online safety very seriously. We are aware of what an incredible resource the Internet can be for yourselves and your children, however we are also aware of the dangers if it is not used appropriately.
Technology is changing constantly and so myself and Miss Blake, who is our Online Safety co-ordinator, have spent time this week updating all of the school's 'Acceptable Use Agreements'. These set out the school's expectations for staff and children when using electronic devices in school such as Ipads and laptops. All children in school will receive a lesson or assembly specifically about the content of the agreement to ensure they understand the expectations set out. This will be a supplement to the online safety lessons the children already have throughout the year.
Parents will also receive an 'Acceptable Use Agreement' to set out school's expectations on how you will support your child in meeting these expectations, so you can expect to receive that over the next few weeks.
As part of our work on Online Safety, myself and Miss Blake will be setting up an Online Safety Working Party. We would like to set up a group of parents, staff and governors to focus on the monitoring and development of Online Safety in school. If this is something you would like to be part of, please let you child's class teacher know.
If you would like any further information about Online Safety please visit the specific section on the school website.
