Mrs Edwards' Blog

As we reach the last few weeks of the half term, we can reflect upon some of the exciting things that have already happened since we returned in September.

  • Our Year 2 children appeared on the CBeebies Swashbuckler programme, where they made up the audience, as well as the contestants taking part in the adventurous pirate themed game.
  • Year 4 have spent the last few weeks taking part in an intensive swimming course, ensuring they all have this life saving skill.
  • We have won several prizes in competitions, including the Harry Potter library competition, a playground makeover from Wilkos and a full new football kit from Premier League Primary Stars!
  • This week will also see our first school trip of the year, with Year 3 visiting the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester to support their Science topic linked to forces.

You may have been slightly confused last week when your child came home discussing the work they had done on Christmas! Rest assured, we are not bringing Christmas into October, we have just been asking your children to complete their own personal designs, so that shortly after half term you will be able to order packs of Christmas cards and other items featuring their artwork. Not only will these be lovely items to send to your friends and family during the festive period, but they will also raise some funds for the Friends of Butterstile, which will go towards improving the facilities on our playgrounds for your children.

Last Friday, it was lovely to see so many parents and family members in attendance at the Year 6 assembly as this was the first family assembly we have been able to have since the building work began. We are very much looking forward to welcoming even more of our families to join with us in our harvest festival celebrations over the next few weeks. As the hall is not completely back in action due to the building work, we have had to split these into two events with Year 1, 2 & 3 performing songs and poems this Friday and Year 4, 5 & 6 performing next Friday. We have asked your children, if possible, to bring in donations of tinned or dried foods, or toiletries to support the local charity Porch Boxes. More information can be found out about this worthwhile charity at: https://porchboxes.wordpress.com/
